Therapy Pet Scholarship Announcement

Washington, D.C., August 1, 2018 – TheraPetic is pleased to announce that we are awarding up to ten $500 Scholarships for young adults, who have been diagnosed with any form of mental illness to help them towards school-related expenses. Applicants must be accepted or actively enrolled in a college, university, or trade school. If you are interested in applying, simply write a 300-500 word essay (1 page) on the topic of How Therapy Has Positively Affected Your Life. The essay should address the hardships of living with a mental health disorder, and how therapy has helped with those hardships. The type of therapy could be in the form of talking to a professional on a regular basis or owning a therapy pet, service animal, or emotional support animal.

TheraPetic, a nonprofit mental healthcare provider, aims to help young adults experiencing stress and anxiety with pressures from course work, transitioning college/university environment, and financial limitations with the annual announcement of a scholarship. We believe in the true value and psychological impact of using therapy animals, like a service dog or an emotional support animal to treat extreme stress and anxiety. An increasing number of people who suffer from depression, anxiety and other mental health issues find emotional comfort from their pets and service animals.

If you would like to apply, simply write an essay on the topic of How Therapy Has Positively Affected Your Life.  Your essay should address that hardships you were going through before engaging in any form of therapy.

Application Deadline is November 1st, 2018.

The scholarships will be awarded by December 31, 2018.

Scholarship Terms & Conditions

  • 300-word minimum – 500-word maximum.
  • Only one (1) submission per applicant.
  • Applicant must be a legal resident of the United States or Canada.
  • Applicant must be enrolled and/or attending post-secondary education within the next year.
